16th ANNUAL NATIONAL NIGHT OUTSponsored by Milford Police Department
On Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Milford Police Department invites you to take a stand against crime by attending its annual “Milford Night Out” celebration. The Funsters Band will highlight the two-hour event in the Bicentennial Park in Downtown Milford. Join us for a night of free drinks and food while observing an exciting display of emergency vehicles.
Participants include Carlisle Fire Company, Sussex County EMS, Delaware Department of Highway Safety, Bayhealth Trauma Unit and the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime programs, while strengthening neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships.

Recycling Changes as of August 1, 2010 As of August 1, 2010 Delaware Solid Waste Authority will no longer be collecting the city’s recycling. We are pleased to announce that curbside recycling will now be picked up by the City of Milford Solid Waste Department. The current collection schedule will stay the same with the exception of a handful of residents. The container that was provided from DSWA is what you will continue using. There will be NO FEES for recycling service to our residents in the foreseeable future. You should be receiving a holiday trash and recycling schedule for the remainder of 2010 in the mail any day now.We hope to make this transition as smooth as possible with littleor NO disruption to our residents. The Milford Police Department has been selected to receive grant funding in the amount of $22,124 from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. The department is required to apply for the funding and will be permitted to use the funding to further law enforcement initiatives within the City’s jurisdiction. Three other city/towns in Sussex County have been selected to receive funds of varying amounts. Those city/towns include Georgetown, Seaford, and Laurel.

***********************************************************Work Begins on Front Street Sewer ProjectBeginning, Tuesday, January 19, 2010 work will begin on the Front Street Sewer Project. The work will include the replacement of sewer lines between Truitt Avenue and Church Street and from the Kent County Pumping Station to the east side of Rehoboth Blvd. Work is expected to continue until mid-July and motorists and pedestrians can expect periodic delays and detours during the project.
