Airport Road Pavement Rehabilitation Project Update-09/05

The City of Milford’s contractor, Diamond Materials of Newport, DE will complete phase C2 of the Airport Road Rehabilitation Project on Wednesday, September 6, 2017.   The section between DuPont Blvd (US 113) and People’s Place entrance will reopen to traffic on Thursday, September 7, 2017.  Section C1 between People’s Place entrance and Bowman Road will be closed to traffic on Thursday, September 7, 2017, and expected to be closed through September 17, 2017   The rehabilitation of this section includes subbase repair, subbase paving, and drainage improvements.   Traffic during this phase will be directed to Bowman Road and to US 113. 

 

The overall project includes pavement base repair, drainage improvements and pavement overlay of approximately 1.4 miles of Airport Road between DuPont Boulevard (US 113) and Canterbury Road (DE 15).   Work on the projected $2.4 million-dollar project is expected to be completed by December 1, 2017.   The pavement base repair and drainage improvements will necessitate a full closure of the roadway during construction.

 

Upon completion of all roadway subbase repair and drainage work, and final top coat of asphalt will be laid over the entire roadway, which will occur between November 13 and December 1.

 

The sectional closures in the future are anticipated as follows:

 

Phase B – Between Delaware Veterans Blvd and Canterbury Road.   Traffic during this phase will be directed to Bowman Road and to US 113 beginning September 17 through October 14.

 

Phase A – Between Delaware Veterans Blvd and Bowman Road.   During this phase the detour will be through the Milford Business Park using Mullet Run and Brent Jordan Way, and will be done in two separate phases to allow access to the Jehovah Witness Church beginning October 14 through November 10.
