In general, this division of the Department of Public Works has responsibility for the collection and transport of municipal solid waste. It is responsible for the following tasks:

• Collects and transports approximately just under 5,000 tons per year of refuse from more than 3100 residential and 250 commercial customers to the Milford Landfill.  

Garbage is classified as normal household kitchen refuse including things that will rot quickly.

Garbage Collection:  Once per week for residential customer and twice per week for commercial customers (unless otherwise specified). Collection days depend on the area you live/work in. (see attached schedule)

Bulk Collection:  The City of offers weekly bulk pick-ups to its trash customers.  Bulk pick-ups are done every Wednesday with the exception of a holiday during that week.  In such case the bulk will be done the following week. (Furniture, Appliances, Bulky items, Excess Trash, Brush/Limbs)
