UPDATE: Important Update for City of Milford Residents
The City of Milford recently sent letters to some households regarding the material of their water service lines. In compliance with EPA requirements, any service line where the customer-side material has not been verified through physical inspection or photo documentation is temporarily classified as "unknown material."
This designation is part of a routine process to ensure our records are accurate and up to date. Receiving a letter does not indicate an issue with your service line or the water quality at your home.
We appreciate your understanding and partnership as we work to maintain a safe and reliable water system for our community.

In compliance with the EPA’s updated Lead and Copper Rule, we’ve completed an initial inventory of service lines connecting water mains to properties. Here’s what we found:
- 3 lead service lines
- 114 galvanized lines (EPA considers lead-risk)
- 2,740 lines with “unknown” materials, still under review
Milford’s drinking water is safe and lead-free. See our Water Quality Report at: https://www.cityofmilford.com/84/Water-Wastewater
Customers with lead, galvanized, or “unknown” lines received letters with tips and next steps. We’re working to replace all lead and at-risk lines by 2037 and have funding to support this effort. Your safety is our priority!
