Tourism is a vibrant and vital industry in Sussex County that generates $1.7 billion annually in GDP. On December 6 2018, the Southern Delaware Tourism Board of Directors presented Southern Delaware Tourism Awards to individuals and organizations that through their dedication and commitment have made outstanding and significant contributions to enriching tourism in Sussex County throughout 2017-2018.  

The award categories included Best Event, Best New Event, Best Attraction, and Tourism Partner of the Year.  Downtown Milford, Inc received the Best New Event for the Ladybug Music Festival because of its visitation draw, uniqueness, out-of-area promotion, and helping to spotlight Sussex County as a destination.
