The City of Milford in conjunction with the University of Delaware’s Living Lab Group, DelDOT and Century Engineering are planning a bicycle infrastructure pop-up project to be located along Marshall Street between SE Second Street and Watergate Boulevard North.   Marshall Street was identified during the City’s 2021 Bicycle Master Plan Update as a key location for bicycle facilities.

The pop-up project will temporarily demonstrate a bidirectional bike lane along the east side of Marshall Street and will last from Tuesday, June 15 to Friday, July 2.  It consists of a two-way bike lanes on the northbound side of Marshall Street, vertical delineators, temporary curb extensions, and crosswalks.

During this time, on-street parking along the east side of Marshall Street will be restricted.  Additionally, residents will be asked to place their refuse containers at the outer edge of the bike lane on collection days.  Variable message boards will be posted to alert motorists of the traffic calming measures.

The temporary measures have been discussed and confirmed by City officials during public meetings and other forums of public outreach.

The initial installation will temporarily close travel lanes on an intermittent basis for a few hours the morning of Tuesday, June 15. Travel delays are not anticipated.

For a better understanding of this project, please check the City of Milford’s website presentation.

In addition, citizens that live in the area and frequent travelers of this area are encouraged to provide feedback on the pop-up demonstration prior to installation online at https://tinyurl.com/MilfordPre.  A post-pop-up survey will be available after July 2.
