[ARCHIVED] City of Milford welcomes Councilmember Samaroo

IMG_2650On Monday, November 8, Nirmala Samaroo was sworn in as the new City of Milford Councilmember for the third ward by Judge Noel Eason Primos.  Councilmember Samaroo ran unopposed and filled the vacancy left by Councilmember Doug Morrow.  Her term is 2021-2023.

Councilmember Samaroo is originally from Groton, CT and moved to Delaware in 2011, ultimately residing in Milford in 2018.  She currently works as a payroll clerk for a tax firm, but previously worked in the Marketing Communication & Planning Department at the DTCC Owens Campus in Georgetown, which is also where she received her AA in Accounting.

“I joined the City Council because I would like to be more involved in the community [and] help make a difference in the lives of the people living here,” Councilmember Samaroo said.

She is “most looking forward to learning more about the great city of Milford and to help in whatever way I can to make it even better for future generations,” she said.

In her free time, Councilmember Samaroo enjoys spending time with her family and reading.  She also has volunteered in the Veterans Resource Center at DTCC.
